Speech and Language Therapy Accolade

On Wednesday 27th March, our speech and language therapy attended the City University School of Health Sciences Awards Ceremony.  Prizes were awarded to students who had excelled academically or practically in their health science degree courses including speech, language and communication science, midwifery, optometry and radiography.  It was also an opportunity for the university to thank providers for their contribution towards training the next generation of health practitioners.

We were really pleased to have been nominated attend the ceremony at the beautiful Senate House in London.  Then we were thrilled to find out that we had won £200 as:

Speech and Language Therapy – Placement of the Year!

Last summer, Carolina Oliveira de Freitas (our nominator) was welcomed and supported by all members of our school community.  She had the opportunity to deliver 1:1 sessions, support Year 11s with their work experience.  She said in her nomination that the Speech and Language Therapists went above and beyond to make sure that she got as much out of her placement as possible.  She wrote, “Charlotte Yeung, my practice educator, made sure that my days were filled with learning, and gave me valuable feedback and advice that I will 100% use towards newly qualified practice. I am honoured to have worked alongside such knowledgeable, friendly and motivational SLTs, and I hope that the Therapy team know how brilliant they are!”

Thank you Carolina – we wish you all the best in your final year of study and are confident that you will become an outstanding speech and language therapist in whichever area of the profession you choose to work.
