Sponsored Walk for Nickel Support
The Student Council wanted to organise a charity event (in line with one of the school’s values – ‘Charity’). After much discussion with their tutor groups and in council meetings, they came up with the idea of a sponsored walk.
They decided to support a fantastic local charity, Nickel Support, a Community Interest Company working with adults with learning disabilities, focusing on employment through Social Enterprises, whose vision is to change the way learning disability services are run forever, offering respect and the chance for people with learning disabilities to shine.
The walk was on 9th December and was a great success. Our amazing students raised £550 – a remarkable achievement – we are so proud of them all!
The Student Council then visited Nickel Support’s hub in Carshalton on 7th February to present the proceeds. Their donation is the first, which will go towards a new building for the young adults to continue their work. We hope to visit again soon, and to work closely with this amazing local charity.
